    YEREVAN HOSTS WORKSHOP ON CITIZEN JOURNALISM FOR REPRESENTATIVES OF NATIONAL MINORITIES

    Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) organized a workshop on
    Citizen Journalism for Representatives of National Minorities on July
    23-25, 2010.

    During the workshop the representatives of national minorities got
    acquainted with information dissemination tools in Internet, as well
    as basic principles and ethics that guide journalism. The seminar
    had theoretical and practical studies.

    As a result of the seminar, the participants obtained skills which
    will give them the opportunity to give voice to their community and
    its concerns through the Internet.

    On the first day of the workshop, the participants got acquainted
    with a number of Internet tools and programmes; they gained skills
    on Internet writing and posting their own stories there and did
    practical assignments.

    The second day of the seminar was dedicated to opening blogs, ethical
    principles of blogging and effective information dissemination through
    social networks.

    As a result of the workshop, the participants are now able to open
    blogs, learned how to use them efficiently and applied the skills
    gained right in the course of the seminar by preparing their own photo
    and video stories. The workshop was conducted by Gegham Vardanyan
    of Internews Media Support NGO and Arthur Papyan, an expert at Media
    Diversity Institute.

    The seminar is organized by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting
    supported by funding from the Foreign Ministry of Norway, the director
    of the IWPR Office in Armenia, Seda Muradyan told PanARMENIAN.Net
