12km-Long Street Lighting Network Delivered for Operation in Upper Getashen

GAVAR, AUGUST 27, ARMENPRESS: Ashot Mihranyan, who is a former
resident of Upper Getashen village of the province of Gegharkunik and
is engaged in business abroad, granted to his home village 60 thousand
USD. The sum was used for the construction of a 12km-long lighting
    network.

Rubik Ghukasyan, head of community of Upper Getashen, told Armenpress
that the construction works of the new lighting network, which
involves the 90% of the village, started August, 2009. He says at
nights the whole Upper Getashen floods with light. The other
1,5km-long network is expected to be constructed by the local funds.

Rubik Ghukasyan added that the patriotic initiative was of great
significance to the village, as the Upper Getashen had been a dark
village in the Soviet period. A number of former villagers, working
abroad, have been supporting the village and partaking in community
improvement projects, which were involved in the 'Quadrennial
Development Project of Upper Getashen'. The next important step will
be the improvement work of the roads of the community.
