SOUTH CAUCASUS RAILWAYS AND BLACKSEA FERRY AND INVESTMENTS SIGNED AGREEMENT TO REGULATE ARMENIA-BOUND RAIL FREIGHT

    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, November 29. / ARKA /. The South Caucasus Railways (SCR),
a Russian-run company operating Armenia's railroads and BlackSea
Ferry and Investments (BFI) company signed an agreement Monday to
regulate the process of rail freight. The document was signed by
SCR CEO, Shevket Shaidulin and BlackSea Ferry and Investments CEO,
    Khokim Matchanov.

Under the agreement SCR will provide BFI with rolling stock for
    organization of rail freight.

"SCR, as a national transport company, emphasizes development of
strategic partnership with BlackSea Ferry Investments which operates
a ferry boat line between port Kavkaz in Russia and port of Poti
in Georgia bringing the bulk of Armenia-bound cargo from Russia and
other countries,' the SCR said in a press release.

It said BFI operates several other rail-ferry boat lines Kavkaz-Poti,
Kavkaz- Samsun (Turkey) on the Black Sea, and the Ust Luga Ust-Luga
and Baltiysk-Sassnitz (Germany) in the Baltic Sea.

The international transport corridor from port Kavkaz to port of Poti
and from there to Armenia provides the latter with the shortest and
cheapest option of cargo delivery by SMAT ferry boat with the capacity
of 50 tanks or 40 universal covered cars and 21.220 foot containers.

The South Caucasus Railways is run by Russian Railways. The
concessional agreement was concluded in 2008 for 30 years, with a
right of extension for another 20 years after the first 20 years
    of operation.
