Very Reverend Father Muron Aznikian will be the guest speaker on "The
Nicene Creed's Biblical and Theological Interpretation" at the
Armenian Apostolic Church of Crescenta Valley, located at Western
Prelacy's "Dikran and Zarouhi Der Ghazarian" hall, at 6252 Honolulu
Ave., in La Crescenta, California on Sunday Oct. 14, 2012 at 1 pm,
following the Divine liturgy which starts at 11 am.

The Nicene Creed was formulated in 325 A.D. in the town of Nicea, near
present day Istanbul. 318 church leaders from every part of the world
were gathered to deliberate on the heresy of Arius. The creed was
later revised in 381 at the council of Constantinople. The creed is
read in church as the statement of the sum of our faith. The lecturer
would like to look at the Nicene Creed in the light of God's word, to
see whether it is indeed scriptural.

Very Reverend Father Muron Aznikian completed the Armenian Theological
Seminary in Antelias and attended the Near East School of Theology. He
was ordained into the sacred order of the priesthood in 1980. After
completing his thesis, "Vahan Koghnatzi's Life and Martyrdom", he
received the degree of Vartabed In 1983. Father Muron was elevated to
the Rank of Supreme Archimandrite, Dzayrakouyn Vartabed in 1995.

He was appointed Spiritual Advisor of the Armenian Church University
Students Association and Superintendent of the Armenian Sunday Schools
by His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia In
1998. In addition, he taught English and Old Testament Backgrounds at
    the Theological Seminary in Lebanon.

Father Muron obtained a Masters degree in Theology and Biblical
Studies from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 2000. In 2005 he was
assigned to serve in the Western Prelacy by providing various
religious, spiritual, and educational needs of the Prelacy. His work
encompasses Prelacy day schools, Sunday schools, Youth Groups, Adult
spiritual education, Bible Study classes and the publication of the
    Prelacy's periodical, the Spiritual Spectrum.

This event is organized by the Crescenta Valley Church Education
Committee, and it is free and open to the public. There will be a
reception before the start of the program at the completion of the
Divine Liturgy. The event is being sponsored by Dr. & Mrs. Hovanes and
    Carla Barsemian.
