YEREVAN. - Armenia's National Security Council (NSC) Secretary, Arthur
Baghdasaryan, on Thursday met with a delegation led by Mohamed Kamel
Rezag Bara, Secretary for Coordinating the Activities of the Security
Council of Algeria, and Presidential Adviser on Counter-Terrorism.

Following their private talk, an extended-format meeting was held,
during which they discussed the Armenian-Algerian cooperation in the
domain of security, NSC press service informs.

Baghdasaryan noted that the Algerian delegation's visit will enable to
    further develop Armenian-Algerian ties.

`First, we can conduct regular consultations. Second, we can establish
cooperation between law enforcement agencies of Armenia and Algeria.
And third, we can establish partnership between the armed forces of
both countries in the area of defense,' the NSC secretary said.

The parties discussed economic cooperation, as well. Baghdasaryan
noted that there exist the necessary prerequisites to expand trade and
economic ties between Armenia and Algeria.

`Algeria is a friendly country for Armenia, and I am hopeful that this
visit will give a boost to the strengthening of ties between our
countries and cooperation in several foreign policy domains,' Arthur
    Baghdasaryan stressed.

In his turn, Mohamed Kamel Rezag Bara noted that Algeria stands ready
    to deepen collaboration with Armenia.

`The agreements that are reached will be a solid basis for the
development of Armenian-Algerian relations. A political dialogue needs
to start, [and] a mechanism for consultations and a road map need to
be made in order to deepen the cooperation,' he stated.

At the end of the talks, the National Security Council Secretary
invited Algeria's respective officials to Armenia, where an
international antidrug action will be conducted in 2013.
