CSTO PA READY TO INITIATE DOCUMENT ON BAN TO SELL WEAPONS TO THIRD STATES

    October 31, 2013 | 18:59

YEREVAN. - The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is going to study the
question on sale of weapons to the third states that pose a threat
to the organization, said the chairman of the CSTO PA committee
    on defense.

"We are interested in bringing closer our legislations so as to speak
to each other in understandable terms," Anatoly Vibornov said.

He recalled that the current legislation does not allow deploying
a military bases of a third states in the CSTO area, if one of the
member countries is opposing the idea.

"In order to avoid such incidents, we need to develop an agreement
between the CSTO countries to ban the sale of weapons to third
countries which are not members of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization, or are threatening members of the organization, in the
event that one of the countries is opposing the deal. I think that
in the near future, we will study the issue because it was raised by
    Armenia," Vyborny added.

In turn, member of the Armenian delegation Khosrov Harutyunyan stressed
that the threat to the national security of a country should be seen
as a threat to the entire organization.
