EUROVISION 2014 PREVIEW: WILL AMERNIA ENTRY NOT ALONE SEE ARAM MP3 JOIN SONG CONTEST WINNERS?

    Mirror, UK
    April 2 2014

With this year's Eurovision Song Contest nearly upon us, we're
profiling every single contestant and now it's Armenia's Aram MP3

Armenia are relative late-comers to the Eurovision Song Contest making
    their debut in just 2006.

They enjoyed a string of top 10 entries until 2011 when their dreams
came crashing down to earth as they failed to make the final of
    Eurovision.

The country didn't enter the contest in 2012 but they came back last
year with a really weird rock song that managed to climb its way to
number 18, and this year they've gone a different way with Aram MP3.

Singer Aram isn't your typical Eurovision entrant because he's also
a qualified pharmacist, graduating from the Yerevan State Medical
University in Armenia's capital Yerevan, in 2006.

Though as it is the Eurovision Song Contest, this is all about the
music - and not his ability to dole out the medicine in a crisis -
so will Aram MP3's Not Alone be enough to get Europe voting for him?

Aram MP3 (previously Aram Betamax - one imagines) seems to be singing
a lot about being alone and then being not alone and also, weirdly,
    shoulders.

Apparently repeating 'you're not alone' 483 times and rhyming every
other word is now 'songwriting' - it's not, not matter what Taylor
    Swift would have us believe.

"Why do dreams make people scream?" he shrills not that anyone answers
    - mainly because they've probably slipped into a light coma listening
    to his song.

Be honest - have you ever met anyone who screams at a dream? Most
people are far too busy actually sleeping for all that carry on and
what would happen if they did? Wake up their neighbours screaming
their heads off to then reveal they were actually having a very nice
dream involving strawberries, a field full of puppies and Captain
America star Chris Evans? They'd be locked up.

This song is the musical equivalent of homoeopathic sleeping pills -
there's nothing to it but it's still enough to knock you out for a
solid eight. All that and with enough violins to make even Vanessa
Mae shudder. Not this year, Armenia. Go and sit in the corner and
    think about what you've done.

What do you think of Aram MP3's song?

What score would you give Aram MP3's Not Alone?

    * The first Eurovision Song Contest 2014 semi-final will take place
on Tuesday 6 May, followed by the second on Thursday 8 May - the
winners will then perform at the Grand Final on Saturday 10 May,
which will be broadcast on BBC One.
