    ARMENIAN PRESIDENT PARTICIPATES IN UNOFFICIAL SUMMIT OF HEADS OF CSTO MEMBER STATES ON JULY 31

    YEREVAN, AUGUST 3, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
    on July 31 participated in the unofficial summit of heads of the
    Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states held in
    Kyrgyzstan. NT was informed by the RA presidential press service that
    the meeting was attended by the heads of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus,
    Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

    During the summit the heads of CSTO member states exchanged ideas
    on urgent problems related to the CSTO responsibility zone and
    international security, as well as discussed issues of information
    policy.

    At the press conference following the summit, President of Kyrgyzstan
    Kurmanbek Bakiev stated that an open and constructive dialog has
    been established in the CSTO responsibility zone, particularly in
    relation to problems of the fight against religious extremism and
    terrorism. The heads of the CSTO states underlined the necessity to
    conduct a coordinated information policy. They also agreed on founding
    a youth center on the shore of Issyk Kul.

    After the summit the Armenian president left for Orenburg Region in
    Russia where he attended the opening ceremony of "The National Village"
    Armenian Cultural Complex in Orenburg, laid flowers at the grave of
    the great Armenian poet Vahan Terian and met with representatives of
    the local Armenian community.
