    CANADIAN BUSINESSMEN SHOW INTEREST IN SCALE PROJECTS IN PRIMORYE

    VLADIVOSTOK, August 19, vladivostoktimes.com Prospects of
    cooperation of Primorye and Canada have been discussed today at
    the meeting of the Primorye Governor Sergey DARKIN and Ambassador
    Plenipotentiary of CANADA in RF, Republic Armenia and Republic
    Uzbekistan Ralph J. LYSYSHYN, the press-service of the Primorsky
    Territory Administration reported to RIA PrimaMedia.

    Sergey DARKIN told about social and economic situation in the Primorsky
    Territory. The region is systematically developing; its economy has
    been growing during the latest years. Growth rate of gross regional
    product amounts to 6 per cent or 321.8bln Rubles.

    Sergey DARKIN reported that Primorye is interested in expansion of
    trade and economic cooperation with Canada on a mutually beneficial
    basis. Implementation of projects on preparation to APEC Summit 2012
    in Primorye opens new opportunities for cooperation.

    The prospective projects being implemented in Primorye are construction
    of infrastructural objects in the framework of preparation to
    APEC Summit, oil and gas pipeline, oil-loading port in Kozmino and
    oil-processing plant, liquefied gas plant, aluminum manufacturing,
    car assembly plant, Far-Easter Federal University on Russkiy Island,
    modernization of the Vladivostok city airport complex being positioned
    as an international hub, development of the transport center Nakhodka
    - port Vostochniy. In total it is planned to direct 3trl Rubles to
    implementation of all investment projects.

    The Governor noted interest of the Primorsky Territory in attraction
    of Canadian companies to implementation of these projects. It will
    become the basis of new directions of cooperation and will allow to
    attach new level to rapport.

    In his turn, Ralph J. LYSYSHYN emphasized that Canadian businessmen
    are also interested in development of cooperation with Primorye,
    especially in power-generating and agricultural sectors, mineral
    resource industry.

    In conclusion of the meeting the parties agreed to develop jointly not
    only trade and economic, but also cultural relations of the Primorsky
    Territory and Canada.
