Obama takes course to disavow US positions
    Sat 20 February 2010 | 07:11 GMT Text size:

Vafa Guluzade It seems that someone wants to involve us in the biggest
    turmoil in the region.

The constant ceasefire violation on the front line causes our
concerns, therefore, we should take preventive measures, according to
    political scientist Vafa Guluzade.

"Superpowers do not want the conflict settlement", the political
    scientist said.

Commenting on the violation of ceasefire between Azerbaijani and
Armenian armed forces on 18 February 2010 that caused death to
Azerbaijani servicemen, the political scientist said:

"Armenia is nothing; the leadership of this country is even unable to
appoint a defense minister, not speaking of provocations on the front
    line".

As for the visit of US Assistant Secretary of State Bill Burns to
Baku, Guluzade noted that the developments in the region may cause
    even Barack Obama's visit here.

"If Bush has come to Tbilisi, why doesn't Obama come to Baku? Or
probably, he is not allowed by Armenians to come here?

The US position on opening the Armenian-Turkish border is more than
disgraceful and it does not meet the interests of not only our country
but also the United States. Yet, Obama seems not to care of it
considering the fact that he has taken a course to disavow positions
    of his country", Guluzade said.

"What else do they want from Baku and Ankara? Baku has accepted all
their provisions and even agreed for liberation of five occupied lands
at the current stage, though 2 more regions and Karabakh are under
occupation. In 1999 Baku also accepted all conditions for the
resolution of this conflict, but the parliament of Armenia was shot
down. The fact that the Armenian supporters keep this conflict on
rise, causes nothing but alert, as anytime they may again cause
conflict here", the political scientist said.
