Today Serge Sargsyan signed the resignation of the head of
the Commission for the protection of economic competition David
Harutyunyan. As always, the Armenian society will not be given a full
explanation of what happened that a person who was appointed for a
term of five years resigns after 4 months.
The essence of the Armenian government is this way. Its staff and
other policy is not decided by the Constitution but by a completely
other logic. If honest people appear in this logic, they are forced
out very soon sure if they do not agree to become servants of the
activities of separate groups.
We do not know whether David Harutyunyan belongs to the number of such
people. In any case, there is no reason to think otherwise. His tenure
coincided with the crimes in the market of medicines. Market medicines,
as well as other markets in Armenia, are someone's monopolies. The
Commission imposed fines on companies that import drugs, and they
tried to appeal the decision. But the commission remained adamant
and did not overturn the decision.
Perhaps this was the reason for his resignation. It is obvious that in
the commission you should have to fit in the current logic of quotas
and zones of influence, or to withdraw. No other way, as they say,
"one commission cannot conquer alone".
