PepsiCo plant to open in Yerevan in May
    Friday 1 April 2011 13:59

Mediamax reports that the opening of the plant will take place in May,
2011. Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsian visited the
construction platform today and got familiar with the process of
    works.

Business Consultant of Jermuk International Company Edgar Kazaryan
stated that the new plant will become on of the best producers of
PepsiCo in the world due to its technical equipment.

`After launch of Pepsi production, we plan to import new equipment for
producing natural juices under Pepsi brand. The volume of investments
has already made 22mln, however the cost of the entire program is
hard to forecast', Edgar Kazaryan stated.

He noted that some types of beverages, which are not produced in
Georgia and will be exported to the neighboring country, will be
presented in the range of drinks, produced in the Armenian plant.

Two production lines for drinks in glass containers and plastic
bottles have been installed in the plant.

The company plans to create about 250 new workplaces.

Edgar Kazaryan stated that according to the assessment of the State
Committee for the Protection of Economic Competition, the share of
PepsiCo in the market of carbonized beverages in Armenia does not
exceed 10% at the moment; however the company intends to increase the
volume of Pepsi consumption in the country in a short period of time.

Within the framework of its crisis prevention program, three years ago
Armenian government provided Jermuk International privileges on VAT
payment for imported equipment (AMD 560mln).
