`Javakhk' Council does not see a chance to participate in Georgia's
    political life
    Friday 1 April 2011 14:34

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Member of `Javakhk' Council of Organizations Artak
Gabrielyan stated today that the Armenians of Javakhk cannot
participate in elections, since they do not have a registered
    political party.

While speaking to Mediamax's correspondent he said that `we have
repeatedly turned to the authorities for registration of the founded
`Virq' party, however the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has been
refusing to do so for various reasons'.

The recent elections to local self-governing bodies in May, 2010,
proved that we have serious problems. We tried to get nominated by
means of lists of any of the oppositional parties, also including
Irakli Alasania's party. But he refused, saying that `we are
separatists, and if he nominates us by his lists, the authority of the
party will drop strongly'. So, I do not understand what he means
saying that Georgia needs more Armenian politicians', Artak Gabrielyan
    stated.

Leader of Georgian `Free Democrats' party Irakli Alasania stated in an
exclusive interview to Mediamax that `Georgia needs more Armenian
    politicians'.

According to Gabrielyan, `maybe nomination of Armenian politicians is
possible in Armenian communities of Tbilisi and Ajara, but it is very
    difficult in Javakhk'.
