(Noyan Tapan - 02.05.2011) On May 1, the day of the Republic of Armenia
was celebrated in the frames of the 37th International Exhibition of
    Books in Buenos Ayres.

By the efforts of RA Embassy and the chief department of the Armenian
Apostolic church the Armenian pavilion was shown together with
the pavilions of other countries and publishing houses. Let's note
that 42 countries and 1500 publishing houses took part in the 37th
International Exhibition of Books of Buenos Ayres.

In 2011, Buenos Ayres was recognized as the motherland of International
Exhibition of Books and for this reason the slogan of the exhibition
was "The city that is open to the world of books".

The "Armenian day" events took place in "Khose Ernandes" hall of
"Rural" complex. RA Ambassador Vladimir Karmirshalyan said to more
than 1000 audience, "During three thousand year of history of the
Armenians the most important event was the creation of the Armenian
alphabet in 5th century, due to which the Bible was translated in
Armenian and thousands of books were published."

The Ambassador Karmirshalyan noted that it was symbolic that sister
cities Buenos Ayres and Yerevan were successively recognized as the
motherland of International Exhibition of Books. He noted that in
2012, International Exhibition of Books will be organized in Yerevan,
where the books published in Armenian and other languages in Armenia
and Diaspora would be shown at the exhibition.

The concert dedicated to the "Armenia Day" took place with
participation of Valeria Cherqezyan, "New Armenians" young chorus and
    "Nairi", "Masis" dance studios.
