    CUSTOMS SERVICES OF ARMENIA AND UKRAINE EXPAND COOPERATION

    Continuous tendencies of growth of commodity turnover have been
    registered over the recent years between Armenia and Ukraine. In
    January-August, 2011, it has grown by nearly 30%, making 157, 4
    million USD. For that very reason the cooperation between the customs
    bodies of the two countries is gradually becoming more significant,
    the basis of which was laid by memorandums signed still in 2010.

    Press service of RA State Revenue Committee told Armenpress that
    the delegation of the Committee under the head of Chairman Gagik
    Khachatryan left for Ukraine September 23-27 on a working visit.

    During the visit Gagik Khachatryan and Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the
    Commission for Customs Regulations of Ukraine, signed a program of
    joint actions between the relevant departments of the two countries,
    according to which it is intended to extend a joint fighting against
    law violations, to simplify and harmonize the customs procedures of the
    two countries, to widely use the up-to-date information technologies in
    exchange of information and data, which will exclude the application of
    double customs procedures. Next year joint programs will be implemented
    in the direction of preparation and training of cadres.

    Chairman of the Armenian State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan
    pointed out the high level of cooperation of Armenian-Ukrainian customs
    services, noting that in the recent two years it has received a new
    impetus thanks to the efforts exerted by the new board of the customs
    system of Ukraine. In his turn Igor Karpenko stressed the need for
    activating of the joint efforts.

    During the visit the delegation members of the State Revenue Committee
    got acquainted with the works of different infrastructures of the
    customs service of Ukraine, studied the European advanced experience
    in fighting against contraband, as well as familiarized themselves
    with up-to-date innovations applied in that sphere.
