    TIGRAN SARGSYAN: AUA MUST BE EXPANDED

    Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, accompanied by Minister of
    Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, participated today in solemn
    event dedicated to 20th anniversary of the American University of
    Armenia (AUA).

    Governmental press service told Armenpress that congratulating the
    guests on the anniversary on behalf of the RA government, Tigran
    Sargsyan expressed gratification that the AUA has a certification of
    the United States, which proves that today it implements processes
    in accordance with standards accepted in the US. Stressing that the
    presence of the AUA in the region is one of the relative advantages
    of our country, the head of the government said, "We should exert
    additional efforts for expansion of the university's functions,
    realizing that in future competition we can win by educating talented
    young people."

    According to the Prime Minister, the AUA must be expanded, its
    functions must become diverse, and services must be available for
    our young people. "Knowledge is the demand of the modern world and
    competitive are the nations, which realize that, are armed with
    knowledge and produce new knowledge," he said.

    Afterward Tigran Sargsyan met with lecturers, professors and students
    of the university.

    The goal of foundation of the university is creating an opportunity of
    getting education and implementing research work in accordance with the
    US system of higher education. As a higher educational establishment in
    Armenia, the AUA implements educational research programs and services.
