    The Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia confirmed Hovik
    Abrahamyan's candidacy to the post of Speaker of the National Assembly
    of fifth convocation. Edward Sharmazanov and Hermine Naghdalyan were
    nominated as Vice-Speakers. Galust Sahakyan will continue to head
    the Republican faction in the new parliament.

    The Republican Party will head eight Standing Committees in the newly
    elected National Assembly, another four Committees will be chaired by
    representatives of Orinats Yerkir Party, Spokesman for the Republican
    party of Armenia Edward Sharmazanov told reporters after the sittings
    of the RPA Executive Body and Board.

    David Harutyunyan will chair the Standing Committee on State-Legal
    Issues, the Economic Committee will be headed by Vardan Ayvazyan, Gagik
    Minasyan will head the Financial-Crediting and Budgetary Committee. The
    Standing Committee on Social Issues will be chaired by Hakob Hakobyan,
    the Helathcare Committee by Ara Babloyan, the Education and Science
    Committee by Artak Davtyan.

    Artak Zakaryan will replace Armen Rustamyan as Chairman of the
    Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs. The Standing Committee on
    Defense, Interior Affairs nd National Security will be headed by
    Koryun Nahapetyan.

    "No major changes should be expected in the government," Sharmazanov
    told reporters.

    The Republican Party of Armenia and Orinats Yerkir Party later signed
    a coalition agreement on the basis of the memorandum of March 21,
    2008 and the updated statement of 2009.
