5 YEARS LATER AND NOTHING'S CHANGED: ARMENIAN PARENTS OF DECEASED SOLDIERS MEET WITH PRIME MINISTER

    07.14.2014 17:11 epress.am

The parents of 5 military conscripts who died in non-combat conditions
at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on
Saturday asked to ensure as soon as possible a fair investigation
into the circumstances surrounding their sons' deaths and punish
those responsible, Gohar Sargsyan, mother of deceased soldier Tigran
    Ohanjanyan, informed Epress.am.

Note, the official website of the Government of Armenia [AM]
reported that Abrahamyan met with parents of soldiers who "perished
in peacetime" Gohar Sargsyan, Anahit Lazarian, Nana Muradyan,
Irina Ghazaryan, Heriknaz Gasparyan, and Hovsep Muradyan. According
to the official statement, the head of government "talked to them
individually, listened to each parent's concerns and objections
regarding the circumstances under which their sons had died."

"We will appeal to all those who will come to power and until we get
answers to the questions of concern to us. As for what expectations
we have, at the moment I cannot say. In 2009, I met with [then] Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsyan: that time too I thought there would be a fair
investigation of the case, the guilty will be punished, but nothing
was done. It's 2014, and we're in the same place," said Sargsyan.

She said during their meeting with Abrahamyan, they raised the issue
    of the investigating authorities' inaction.

"I said, Mr. Abrahamyan, today I have a grave, but I don't have my
child's cause of death -- how do you see this? I also asked: god
forbid, if you were in my place, what would you do? August 30 will be
the 7th anniversary of my son's death, and I am a mother who doesn't
know her child's cause of death. We added, if the judicial system,
the investigating authorities don't solve the issue, intervene so that
we may meet with Supreme Commander [of the Armenian Armed Forces,
Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan and see what he says. The prime
minister promised to help us to the extent possible," she said.
