OVER TEN ARRANGEMENTS WITH SPAIN

On April 4 Arthur Baghdasaryan, Speaker of the National Assemblt of
Armenia, presented the results of his working visit to news reporters
on April 4.
In the history of the third republic in Armenia this was the first
visit of the speaker of the parliament to Spain. The relations of
Armenia and Azerbaijan have not been active either on a bilateral level
or in the frame of international organizations. "Political dialogue
is not adequate. It is extremely important to have political and
parliamentary ties," announced Arthur Baghdasaryan. This is especially
important, considering that Spain will chair the OSCE in 2007.
The result of Arthur Baghdasaryan's visit is over ten
arrangements. Particularly, Gyumri, Aparan and Vardenis became
members of the Forum of the World Alliance of Cities Fighting
Against Poverty. "Another 10 Armenian cities will become members of
the forum. Only the all-European alliance implements projects of 900
million euros. Membership to this organization will enable our cities
to have new financial means for community development programs,"
says Arthur Baghdasaryan.
Besides, the office of the Spanish company IBEX will be opened in
Yerevan. The annual turnover of the company is 20 billion euros. There
is arrangement on starting cooperation in education and science. "The
Spanish party will assist in opening a Spanish-Armenian foundation
for scientific and innovative technologies." On the money allocated
by Spain a hospital with 200-300 places will be opened in one of the
settlements, destroyed by the earthquake in 1988. 300 ambulances will
be brought from Spain.
