CHAIRMAN OF DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF USA LAYS WREATH ON MEMORIAL
FOR VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE "TSITSERNAKABERD"
YEREVAN, AUGUST 20. ARMINFO. Chairman of the Democratic Party of USA
Howard Dean has laid a wreath on the Memorial for the Victims of
Armenian Genocide "Tsitsernakaberd" and planted a firtree in the park
near the memorial.
He thinks the historical fact of Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey
must be undoubtedly recognized by the White House administration. I
represent almost half of the population in the USA at present as I am
Chairman of Democratic Party and expressed the interests of democrats
in the country, he states. He promised to apply to the members of the
Democratic Party fore recognition and support to the Resolution of
Armenian Genocide in the U.S. Congress. Howard Dean stated that the
USA considers Turkey and Armenia its friendly states and Washington
is responsible for maximum rapprochement of these tow states.
Speaking on unwillingness of Bush's Administration to characterize
the massacre of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey as Genocide, Howard Dean
admitted such policy wrong. It is necessary to apply to the facts of
the past; and if we want to achieve reconciliation, we must recognize
the truth, first of all, the Chairman thinks.
