KCET'S AWARD-WINNING LIFE & TIMES ENTERS THE BLOGOSPHERE

Life & Times, KCET's signature news and public affairs series (weeknights
6:30-7:00 p.m.), enters the blogosphere on May 1, with a multimedia forum
designed to expand discussion and debate of the topics covered by the
award-winning program. The blog address is kcet.org/blogs, or accessible
by visiting kcet.org, clicking on the Life & Times link and selecting the
    blog tab.

Experimenting with the blog format, KCET's Life & Times blog launches with
reporter Toni Guinyard's profile of kids living on Skid Row, reporter Hena
Cuevas' interviews with a landlord and a reformed sex offender to find out
if Megan's Law is too tough, reporter Sam Louie's examination of porn
addiction, Orange County reporter Roger Cooper's coverage of the
controversial proposal to build a seawater desalination plant in
Huntington Beach, and anchor Val Zavala's interview with Armenian
documentary filmmaker Michael Hagopian. The blog also includes the current
`Filmweek' segment, presented by KPCC radio host Larry Mantle and his team
of film critics, and Life & Times' roundtable discussions of hot-button
issues by local political figures and community activists, the first of
which is `Frank Talk About Parenting.'

`If there's one thing I've learned from my fourteen years on Life &
Times, it's that our viewers have things to say,' says Zavala, also KCET's
vice president of news and public affairs. `We're offering a sophisticated
blogging experience that provides Life & Times viewers additional context
and background on important and controversial issues.'

In addition to providing an outlet for public comments, the Life & Times
blog offers reporter's notes, never-before-heard audio interviews, expert
remarks and viewpoints for an insider's perspective on the issues,
streaming video, plus links to additional information and resources. Each
Tuesday, the current edition of `FilmWeek' is posted, and every Thursday,
a new Life & Times feature story is added to the blog.

Whether commenting on controversies or debating the issues, viewers can
make connections with organizations, community activists, local leaders
and each other by expressing their opinions or suggesting solutions to the
stories featured on Life & Times.

In order to provide a venue that encourages a dynamic and educated
discussion about provocative issues, the blog will be fully moderated by
members of KCET's staff. Details are located in the `Terms of Use'
    section.
