YIELD IS LOW BUT COVERS COSTS

As of August 20, 95 percent of wheat fields was harvested, which
totaled 44 840 ha. 50 thousand tons of wheat was produced. The
average yield per hectare totaled 1.12 metric tons. The highest was
in the regions of Shahumyan and Kashatagh, 1.6 and 1.5 metric tons
respectively. The lowest was in Shushi (0.9 metric ton). The average
yield is down by 250 kg compared with the previous year.
Farmers say 600 kg per hectare covers the costs of sowing and
harvesting.
