"U.S. CONGRESS WILL SOON ADOPT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE," CHAIRWOMAN OF ARMENIAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS IS CONVICTED

    Noyan Tapan
    Aug 23, 2007

YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, NOYAN TAPAN. U.S. Congress will adopt Resolution
106 recognizing the Armenian Genocide very soon. This prevision
was made by Sharistan Melkonian, the Chairwoman of the Armenian
National Commitee of Eastern Massachusetts in response to a Noyan
    Tapan correspondent's question.

She expressed conviction that the adoption of that resolution will
be "a great progress" in reaching the final goal, that is to say,
the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey.

In the words of Sharistan Melkonian, the Armenian lobby of the
United States is very strong and has recently, in particular, been
implementing rather productive activities in the direction of the
    recognition of the Armenian Genocide,

The Chairwoman of the Armenian Naitonal Committee of Eastern
Massachusetts regards the viewpoint concerning the repulsive position
with regard to the Armenian Genocide spread by all the Jews as not
corresponding to reality. In the conviction of Sharistan Melkonian, the
Jewish people realize that separate leaders and organizations speaking
on their behalf and denying the fact of the Armenian Genocide "are just
against them." According to her, the letter sent to U.S. Congress by
the Jewish community of Armenia as well, which calls to recognize the
Armenian Genocide, will contribute to the adoption of Resolution 106.
