Commissioner For Human Rights Meets With Canadian Military Ombudsman

Azerbaijan's Commissioner for Human Rights Ms. Elmira Suleymanova met
in Baku with visiting military ombudsman of Canada Ives Cote.
Ms. Suleymanova informed her Canadian counterpart about what is being
done in Azerbaijan to ensure human rights and freedoms, the country's
participation in international conventions, and measures to build a
well-organized army. They also discussed the prospects of bilateral
cooperation and other issues of mutual concern.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, which had
resulted in occupation of the Azerbaijani territories and ethnic
cleansing of the native population, she stressed it must be resolved
on the basis of the international legal norms and principles, and
within the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
