YEREVAN, December 14. /ARKA/. Armenia is on a right way of development,
said Armenia's Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan during the meeting with
World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Shigeo Katsu.
"During the meeting, Sargsyan said that since their last meeting in
Washington less than two months have passed, but the positive feedbacks
on the reforms and economic situation in Armenia strengthened his
opinion that the country is one a right way of development and has
a chance to develop more rapidly," the Government's press service
told ARKA.
According to Sargsyan, this is basis for the program envisaging
higher standards.
Katsu confirmed his estimations towards Armenia and pointed out that
these years it was one of the countries consecutively presenting the
best execution of WB programs.
He pointed out that taking into account the GDP growth in Armenia
per capita, perhaps the country will jointly be financed by the
International Development Agency (IDA) and International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), instead of only the IDA,
and later exceptionally by the IBRD.
According to the Armenian National Statistical Service, the GDP volume
per capita is planned to reach $2,558 in 2007. In 2006 this index
reached $1,989, whereas in 2000 it totaled $593, in 2001 - $659.3,
in 2002 - $739.9,in 2003 - $874.1, in 2004 - $1,112.8, in 2005 -
$1,523.7.
