CAMPAIGN ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN LAUNCHED
This year the Council of Europe has announced a campaign year of
violence against women, Armine Tanashyan, deputy department head at
the ministry of employment and social affairs, told Panorama.am. She
said the campaign started in Armenia on December 11 and continues now.
In the words of Tanashyan, the campaign runs under the slogan ''Do not
be silent, do not tolerate, respond and join.'' ''This campaign aims
to spread the fact that violence against women is a violation of human
right and not a custom. This is a human problem and not a problem for
any one country,'' she said.
