TURKEY DISCONTENT WITH EU LANDMARK TREATY

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated
its discontent regarding the paragraphs on Turkey approved by the EU
Summit of Heads of State and Government.

"Turkey carries on with its negotiation process towards full
membership. This process is irreversible by its nature," MFA said in
a written statement. "The basic point that lies under our discontent
is a member country's attempt to harm our political and legal position
    regarding our membership process."

France cannot halt Turkey's bid to join the European Union, Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today, despite Paris's
success in having the word "accession" deleted from a statement on
Turkey's EU talks. "Our determination to join the European Union as
a full member has undergone no changes," Erdogan said.

At French insistence, an EU foreign ministers' statement on the
bloc's enlargement strategy on Monday omitted the words "accession"
and "membership" in connection with Turkey, RIA Novosti reports.

Ankara began EU entry talks in 2005 but they have been advancing very
slowly due to rows over Cyprus and human rights.
