ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT INVITES INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS TO MONITOR ...

Speaker of Armenia's National Assembly Tigran Torosyan has sent
letters to four international organizations on Tuesday, inviting them
to monitor the presidential election due on February 19, 2008.
The invitations were sent to the Parliamentary Assembly of the
Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization
for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Parliament and
the CIS Inter-parliamentary assembly.
The presidential election in Armenia is scheduled for February
19, 2008. The Armenian Central Election Commission (CEC) will be
registering presidential candidates between December 31, 2007 and
January 20, 2008.
The official election campaign will be held from January 21 to February
17. Observer missions will be registered by the CEC until February 9.
Nine Armenian politicians have already launched their presidential
bids.
