ARMENIA DOES NOT RULE OUT TRANSIT OF IRANIAN GAS

    Lragir, Armenia
    Dec 24 2007

Armenia does not rule out that the Iranian gas will be transported
through Armenia, the Armenian minister of energy Armen Movsisyan stated
on Saturday, commenting on Iran's likelihood to export gas to Europe,
    News Armenia reports.

The minister says Iran has already stated likely for a few times but
    no efforts have been made.

"If Iran and Europe reach agreement on gas supply and consider
transit via Armenia the shortest and most effective route, assessing
the environmental and economic components as well, we will agree,"
    Movsisyan said.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that if Armenia makes such
a decision, "nobody will prevent it because Armenia will do what is
    beneficial for the country's economy."
