VIKTOR SOGHOMONYAN: MR. SEMNEBY'S STATEMENTS ARE FAR FROM REALITY

RA President's Spokesman Viktor Soghomonyan has declared he was
bewildered by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus
Peter Semneby's statement. In an interview with Mediamax the
European diplomat had decaled that the Armenian authorities carry
the responsibility for creating a "proper atmosphere" for the press
without direct mediation.
"I was bewildered by Mr. Semneby's statement: it's not clear
with what means it is possible to realize that responsibility. I
don't know which are the causes of such statement, as well as the
sources of the information and the standards of evaluation, but it
is obvious that these are far from reality. If Mr. Semenby was so
kind as to investigate the original reason of the hot pre-election
debates in Armenia, he would certainly see that the authorities are
the most discreet participants of the process," Viktor Soghomonyan
told Mediamax.
"By the way, we follow the elections that take place in Europe:
to be fair, the "behavior" of media is not brilliant there."
