YEREVAN FEBRUARY 6, ARMENPRESS: Union for Armenia, a small party that
was rumored once to be actively promoted by chief prosecutor Aghvan
Hovsepian, has become the second, after Ramkavar Azatakan (Democratic
Liberal) party to ignore the May 12 parliamentary elections.
A parliament member Vahram Baghdasarian, one of the founders of the
party, said today he will seek reelection only from a single mandate
constituency.
Another parliament member Manvel Ghazarian, the owner of Vedi Alco
winery, said he will too seek reelection from a single mandate
constituency.
Baghdasarian said his extensive experience of a parliament member
shows that the National Assembly should be made of experts, lawyers
but not of businessmen, but added that businessmen's knowledge is
important in drafting economy related bills.
