ARAM KARAPETIAN PROPOSES MAKING UP GENERAL PREELECTORAL ROLL OF OPPOSITION FORCES

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. A general preelectoral roll of
opposition forces need to be made up on the eve of the forthcoming
parliamentary elections. Nor Zhamanakner (New Times) Party Chairman
Aram Karapetian gave assurance on February 8, at a regular sitting of
Anticriminal Movement. In his words, consultations are already being
held in this direction among various political organizations. Aram
Karapetian explained Anticriminal Movement's being engaged in such
problems by the circumstance that their movement has a purpose to
resist criminalization of political processes. Chairman of Homeland
and Honor Party Garnik Margarian said that on February 7, the arrest of
Coordinator of Consolidation of Armenian Volunteers public initiative
Zhirayr Sefilian and member of Political Board of Homeland and Honor
Party Vardan Malkhasian was prolonged by two more months. G. Margarian
expressed gratitude to the MPs who created a commission on this issue
and try to pursue justice. In the words of member of Consolidation
of Armenian Volunteers Samvel Haroutiunian, Z. Sefilian's arrest
is a "crime." He declared that the echo of Z. Sefilian's arrest is
increasing both in Armenia and in the Diaspora.
