MEMBERS OF PEOPLE'S DEPUTY HAVING JOINED RPA AGAIN TO TAKE PART IN
ELECTIONS BY MAJORITARIAN SYSTEM
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 9, NOYAN TAPAN. Though the majority of members of
the People's Deputy NA group is currently a member of the Republican
Party of Armenia (RPA), almost all members of the group will again
take part in the parliamentary elections by the majoritarian
system. Member of the group, RPA member Mkrtich Minasian declared this
at the February 9 press briefing. He stated that the members of the
People's Deputy will nominate their candidatures at the same electoral
districts where they were elected at the previous elections. In
M. Minasian's words, during the preelection campaign not everybody
even in People's Deputy group consisting of businessmen will be able
to use paid broadcast. In his opinion, tariff of 80-100 thousand drams
per one minute set by TV companies is too high. In consideration of
the fact that according to the law, the amount of fund envisaged by
the preleection agitation is nearly 5 mln drams (nearly 13.9 thousand
USD), then in M. Minasian's words, under such tariffs a candidate for
deputy has a possibility of only one hour of paid broadcast.
