THE FOOTBALL TEAM OF AZERBAIJAN WISHES TO PLAY WITH ARMENIA ON A NEUTRAL FIELD

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has suggested
holding the qualification matches between the national football teams
of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Austria, Switzerland or Ukraine, Press
Secretary of the Ministry Ragif Abasov told APA agency.
In his words, these suggestions have already been sent to the UEFA. "
Azerbaijan does not agree with Armenia that the matches should be
held in Baku and Yerevan. Therefore, we have applied to the UEFA
with the suggestion to hold these matches in Austria, Switzerland or
Ukraine." At the same time Abasov noted that Azerbaijan will agree
to hold the matches in another neutral country the UEFA will suggest.
Let us remind that the Armenian side wants the matches to be held in
Yerevan and Baku. The Football Federation of Armenia has expressed
readiness to leave for Baku. The issue of Armenia-Azerbaijan matches
will be discussed at the recurrent sitting of the UEFA Executive
Committee, the terms of which are not known yet.
