HIS HOLINESS ARAM I RECEIVES THE AMBASSADOR OF IRAN
His Holiness Aram I received the Ambassador of Iran to Lebanon H.E.
Ambassador Mohammed Riza Shibani and senior officials from the Iranian
Embassy in Beirut in Antelias on January 3. Discussions revolved around the
political situations on the local, regional and international scenes.
The Pontiff expressed his views on the resolution of the current conflict in
Lebanon, considering the country's sovereignty as exceeding all other
interests in importance.
The Ambassador and His Holiness also talked about issues related to the
three Armenian dioceses in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Ambassador Shibani
praised the role of the Armenian community in Iran as the largest and most
important minority in the country.
