IN KIRO MANOYAN'S WORDS, ARMENIA SHOULD BE READY ECONOMICALLY AND LEGISLATIVELY FOR OPENING BORDER WITH TURKEY

YEREVAN, JANUARY 15, NOYAN TAPAN. The organizers of the international
conference under the title "Economic and Social Consequences of
Opening of Armenian-Turkish Border" held the other day in Yerevan,
in particular, representatives of USA AJD Yerevan Office, stated
that in case of opening the border with Turkey Armenian population's
economic condition will improve and "mentioned in the implication that
some political concessions should be made for this purpose." Kiro
Manoyan, ARFD Hay Dat Office Director, sais this at the January 15
dispute. In his words, it is not excluded that at some moment, under
the influence of some circumstances and without any preconditions
Turkey will declare that "the border with Armenia is opened." In
his affirmation, Armenia should be ready for such sudden change both
economically and legislatively.
In K.Manoyan's words, it is not the demand to recognize the Armenian
Genocide that makes Turkey keep the border with Armenia closed. As
he affirmed, "Turkey's purpose is to weaken Armenia and for achieving
this purpose this country can present another 40 reasons."
