MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT OF ARMY PEACE
The topic of the discussion at Regnum Agency Press Center dedicated to
the establishment of the Armenian Army was `Army and Society.'
Armenian Defense Minister Serzh Sargsyan participated at the
discussion.
Speaking about the relations of army and society, the defense minister
said the army has widely opened its doors to the society. Mechanisms
are created for oversight functions. `There are close topics and
secrets in the army as well but the army is not close to
anyone. Issues relating to everyday life of soldiers have never been
closed and are not closed now,' the defense minister said.
He also stated that more than one dozen laws regulate the relations in
the army. In the words of Sargsyan, they have made great efforts to
step up public trust to the army. `We have widely opened the doors to
the parents, public organization and creative groups,' he said. `No
public organization has been rejected information if it does not
relate to operative programs,' the minister pointed out.
Sargsyan said the greatest achievement of the Armenian army in the
course of the last 15 years is peace, which lasts about 12 years.
