DEPUTY DEFENSE MINISTER WANTS TO SEEK PARLIAMENT SEAT
YEREVAN, JANUARY 19, ARMENPRESS: Armenian defense
minister Serzh Sarkisian revealed today that one of
his deputies, Arthur Aghabekian, told him he wants to
resign in order to participate in parliamentary
elections, scheduled tentatively for May 12.
The minister said he told his deputy that it was
up to him to take the final decision. Local newspapers
suggested last week that Aghabekian is likely to seek
a parliament seat on the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation's ticket.
Serzh Sarkisian said today during a news
conference that no major personnel changes are
expected in the ministry.
