Pan Armenian Youth Conference convened by the World Armenian Congress
(WAC) has adopted a declaration for consolidation of the Armenian
people against global challenges and threats, President of the Union
of Armenians of Russia (UAR) Ara Abrahamyan said at a press conference.

The declaration, particularly, says that maintenance and
strengthening of Armenian statehood is an important task for the
Armenian people. A. Abrahamyan said Armenia can become a shield to
protect Armenians not only from centennial but also from millennium
challenges. "We are decisive to support the processes aimed at
international recognition of the Armenian Genocide as an important
factor of national security," UAR President said.

The declaration also mentions the fight for protection of Artsakhi
people's right to self-determination, as well as the necessity of
preserving the national identity, language, culture, traditions as
an important factors against estrangement and assimilation.

Ara Abrahamyan said that they must discuss the declaration and send
it to all the foreign and local communities within 6 months. "We
intend to discuss the declaration also with the authorities of
Armenia. It must become the major programme of the Youth Union,"
he said. A. Abrahamyan mentioned that the youth not only speaks
of its problems but also proposes to take an active part in their
settlement, which is a real progress. UAR President said they intend
to open branches in the regions in Armenia and NKR this year. He
also added that there was a proposal to organize a festival of youth
organizations worldwide. Addressing to the young people residing in
rural areas, UAR President advised them to be optimistic and sure that
the authorities are thinking over their future. A similar conference
was held for the first time in Moscow in 2002.
