MEMORIAL TO VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE TO BE PLACED IN BOSTON

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ A memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide
will be placed in Boston. Tom Menino, Mayor of Boston has agreed
on the idea to place a memorial, but not on Greenway square near
Christopher Columbus Park. He said he doesn't want the Greenway to
become home to a number of memorial sites.

Today the Globe reports that the BRA (Boston Redevelopment Authority)
has proposed some alternative sites for the memorial: Charles River
parkland on both sides of the river created by the Big Dig, a location
in the South Boston waterfront near the Convention Center & Exhibition
Center, a spot on a Charlestown pier, a current parking lot on Merrimac
and Staniford Streets, and that a spot between Filene's and TJ Maxx
in Downtown Crossing called "shoppers park".

Earlier the Boston Town Council opposed the idea to place a memorial
to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
