    ARMENIAN-AZERBAIJANI CLASH BY IRAN-AZERBAIJAN CO-PRODUCTION FILM

    AZG Armenian Daily #140
    26/07/2007

    Culture, Karabakh Issue

Osian's-Cinefan is one of Asia's leading film festivals devoted
principally to Asia and the Arab world. Established in 1999 in New
Delhi in July every year, the Festival enjoys an international
reputation for the quality of films screened over nine days
complemented by panel discussions, one major seminar each time, an
Auction of Popular Culture and Film Memorabilia along with a number
of exhibitions, the Talent Campus for budding young filmmakers from
South Asia, and the presence and participation of film professionals
from all over the world and all over India.

Last Saturday the Osian's-Cinefan-9th Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema
started with the Iran-Azerbaijan co-production film "Raami", based on
the folk tale of two lovers Asli and Karam, told through song. The film
deals with man's relationship with nature, war and music, mentioned
the 30-years-old Iranian director of the film Babak Shirinsefat in
his interview to "Hindu times" daily. "Raami" narrates the story of
a middle-aged Azerbaijani folk composer who has spent 10 years in a
war refugee camp, how he goes back looking for his Armenian wife and
child after the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The 76-minute
film evoked mixed response from the audience. Some thought it was
confusing and slow while others loved the intense and emotional plot.

The Osian's Cine Fan Festival will last till July 29.

140 films from 35 countries will be shown at the festival.
