IN DPA CHAIRMAN'S WORDS, KOCHARIAN WILL HAVE TO REFUSE TO SIGN ANY DOCUMENT ON PRINCIPLES OF NAGORNO KARABAKH SETTLEMENT

    Jun 04 2007

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, NOYAN TAPAN. At the meeting of Armenian and
Azerbaijani Presidents scheduled for June 10 Robert Kocharian will
have to refuse to sign any document on settlement principles, as this
will be "a mortal blow for the current authorities." Aram Sargsian,
Chairman of Democratic Party of Armenia, gave assurance at the June
    4 press conference.

In his words, Ilham Aliyev had refused to sign any document on Nagorno
Karabakh settlement principles so far, while, this time the Armenian
side will have to assume the fault of protracting the negotiations.

In A. Sargsian's words, so far the Armenian authorities through RA
President's Spokesperson had named not serious I. Aliyev's statements
about ceding all liberated territories, while they cannot say the
same about similar statements made by Minsk Group Co-chairs.

Touching upon statements of western observers about parliamentary
elections, A. Sargsian expressed apprehension that their being
positive is directly connected with the mechanism of Nagorno Karabakh
settlement. He considered possible an agreement reached between
U.S. and Armenia, according to which by placing peacekeepers in Nagorno
Karabakh conflict zone Armenia de jure remaining as member of CSTO,
    de facto will join NATO.
