The present format of the Karabakh peace process is destructive and
illogical, Nagorno-Karabakh President Arkady Ghukassyan said at a
press-conference in Yerevan, Tuesday.
"The matter concerns the fate of the Nagorno-Karabakh people and
their non-participation in the talks is not clear," the NKR President
emphasized.
At the same time, he pointed out the lack of the negotiation process
determined at the summit in Budapest in 1994 (which stipulated three
parties to the conflict). "There is no Minsk process now. There
are only separate meetings of the Armenian and Azeri presidents and
foreign ministers.
Nagorno-Karabakh is not represented in this format. It is
illogical. But in any case, it will be for the NKR people to say
the last word as the matter concerns the their fate," A.Ghukassyan
said. He also commented upon the forthcoming meeting of the Armenian
and Azeri presidents in St.Petersburg on June 9. According to his
estimation, this meeting will not be fateful. "It will be a common
meeting," he noted. The NKR President expressed confidence that the
present format of negotiations gives no real opportunity to find the
solution of the problem.
