ARARAT BANK, UNIBANK, CONVERSE BANK, HSBC ARMENIA BANK, ACBA CREDIT AGRICOLE, AND ANELIK BANK LEADING IN ARKA NEWS AGENCY'S PRESS RATING FOR 1ST Q 2007

YEREVAN. June 4. /ARKA/. ARKA News Agency published a press-rating of
Armenian banks for the 1st quarter 2007. The press-rating's leading
banks are 1. Ararat Bank, 2. Unibank, 3. Converse Bank, 4. HSBC
Armenia Bank, 5. ACBA Credit Agricole Bank, and 6. Anelik Bank.
According to the analysis of press signals, in the accounting period
information activity of Armenian banks in the press considerably
increased. As a result, the number of press signals increased by 31.6%
compared to the 1st quarter 2006.
At the same time, the share of negative press signals decreased
from 8.5% to 2% compared to January-March 2006. In the structure of
overall information about banks in the 1st quarter 2007, the share
of press reports on the topics "Policy of Banks Development" and
"Clients and Service" increased (from 19.9% to 32.3% and from 0.5%
to 4.6% respectively). At the same time, decrease was recorded in
the information activity under other sections - "General Information
about Bank" (from 45.6% to 37.3%), "Digital Illustration of Activity"
(from 27.9% to 22.3%), and "Opinions and Forecasts on Economy"
(from 6.1% to 3.5%).
According to ARKA's press-rating for January-March 2007, in the 1st
quarter 2007 Ararat Bank was leading under the topics "Policy of Banks
Development" and "Clients and Service" (indexes: 56.32 and 312.65
respectively). Converse bank was the most active among banks for
provision of information about "Digital Illustrations of Activity"
(index 153.8). Armeconombank was leading under the topics "General
Information" and "Opinions and Forecasts on Economy" (indexes: 55.88
and 17.92 respectively).
The leading banks in the ARKA press-rating for the 1st quarter 2006
were 1. Converse Bank, 2. Anelik Bank, 3. Armeconombank, 4. Unibank,
5. VTB Armenia, 6. Ardshininvestbank.
ARKA press-rating is measured not under financial and economic
indicators, but according to facts of the bank activity reported
through mass media. As a result, the higher the level of actual
information about a bank's activity, the more effective is its
communicative policy. In process of a press-rating compilation,
advertising information was not a subject of research or analysis.
