US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Matthew Bryza declared in Baku
today that his meetings in Azerbaijan inspire optimism. In his words,
"Azerbaijan and Armenia have made constructive steps for the settlement
of the conflict. "The parties have held serious negotiations recently.
If the wish to settle the remaining questions, then this year it
will be possible to sign an agreement on the basic principles of
settlement," Bryza said.
He declared once again that "the parties are very close to the
resolution of the conflict." Commenting on the forthcoming meeting of
the Presidents in Saint Petersburg, the American Co-Chair noted that
"it is necessary to discuss several complex issues and certain work
needs to be done."
