LICENSES ISSUED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 55 SMALL HYDRO POWER PLANTS IN
ARMENIA IN LAST THREE YEARS
YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/.Armenia's Public Services Regulating
Commission issued licenses for construction of 55 small hydro power
plants in the last three years, Chief of department for Legal Affairs
of the Commission Hamayak Amiraghian told ARKA agency.
At its sitting today the Commission issued a license for construction
of small hydro power plant "Ger-Ger 1" of 1,380 kilowatt output for
the period till 2009.
Amiraghian pointed out the recent trend toward increase in
construction of small hydro power plants.
"The increase in applications is explained with reasonable prices for
waterway," he said.
Amiraghian also reported that since 1999 the Commission provided
licenses for production of 49 hydro power plants that operate
currently. According to the estimates of the Commission, 10 small
hydro power plants are to be commission by the end of 2007.
By January 2015 104 small hydro power plants are to be constructed in
Armenia with total output making 184 megawatt and average annual
yield of 660mln kilowatt/hour. Most part of the plants are
constructed in Lori and Siunik marzes of Armenia. N.V. -0--
