THE ARMENIAN CHURCH PARTICIPATES IN THE EDITORIAL SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING OF
THE REPORT OF THEOLOGICAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE ORIENTAL ORTHODOX AND
CATHOLIC CHURCHES
The sub-committee responsible for editing the report on the theological
dialogue between the Roman Catholic and Oriental Orthodox (non-Chalcedonian)
churches met on May 28-30 in Rome. Four Oriental Orthodox and four Catholic
theologians participated in the meeting.
Archbishop Mesrob Krikorian (Catholicosate of All Armenians, St.
Etchmiadzine- Primate of the Diocese of Austria and Central Europe) and
Bishop Nareg Alemezian (Catholicosate of Cilicia- Ecumenical Officer)
participated on behalf of the Armenian Church.
After reviewing the subjects discussed, speeches delivered and the
comments made during the 2003-2007 theological dialogue, the sub-committee
drafted the ecclesiastical part of the report, to be presented in January
2008 during the meeting to be held in Antelias in January 2008 upon the
invitation of His Holiness Aram I.
On the Pontiff's advice, Bishop Alemezian held important meetings with the
secretariat of state at the Vatican and the directors of the departments of
the Pontifical Council for Laity and inter-faith relations on May 31.
