TEHRAN, JUNE 12, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. On June 7 in the
Sasuntsi David hall of Ararat sports district of the Ararat Armenian
Cultural Organization in Tehran the 89th anniversary of the First
Republic of Armenia was celebrated with great lustre, the initiators
of which were the Ararat Armenian Cultural Organization and the
Investigation Center of Armenian Issues HUSK Institution.

The flags, symbolizing the two countries, were brought into the hall
by scouts under the anthems of the republic of Armenia and the Islamic
republic of Iran. On behalf of the organizing committee Henrik Khaloyan
    gave an opening speech.

As it was reported to Noyan Tapan by Alik (Wave) Daily, Hrant
Margarian, representative of the ARFD Bureau, was invited from
Armenia to be the speaker of the day, who focused on the statehood
symbol. Speaking about the current situation in the independent
Armenia, H. Margarian touched upon the negotiations held recently
between Dashnaktsutiun (ARFD) and the two parties, making part of
a coalition in Armenia, where Dashnaktsutiun signed a cooperation
memorandum. He underlined in his speech that Dashnaktsutiun will
come up with a new status in this stage as an alternative between
    government and opposition.

Bishop Sepuh Sargsian, head of the Armenian diocese in Tehran, made
a speech on the occasion of the day. In his speech he underlined the
May 28 symbol, grounding his words with evangelical quotations. His
Holiness once again touched upon the the phenomenon of the growing
    emigration.

The art performances of the Armenian Cultural Ararat Organization's
Ararat, Zartonk dancing groups and the pupils of Karap choreographical
school of the Armenian union Chharmal made the event more alive. Hasmik
Karapetian gave solo performances and Sedrak Gojamanean recited.
