LAUNCHING OF BOOK "BRAVE KAJIK" BY KOREAN CHILDREN'S WRITER KEIJIN LEE TAKES PLACE IN YEREVAN

    Jun 19 2007

YEREVAN, JUNE 19, NOYAN TAPAN. On June 19 the launching of the
Armenian publication of the first part of the book "Brave Kajik"
written by the Korean children's writer and artist Keijin Lee took
place in the "Khnko Aper" children's library. Armen Martirosian, the
Head of the Armenian Advertisement Council, mentioned that Armenian
children should read not only the works of Armenian but also those
of foreign children's writers in order to also get acquainted with
the cultures of other nations. In his opinion, children will get an
opportunity to have a perception of Korea and its culture through
    the publication of this book.

In Keijin Lee's words, many people, adults, in particular, after
reading the book come to the conclusion that it is of no educational
value. "However, the main hero of the tale has a great soul and
a striving for reaching his goal, which is very important in the
raising of children. I think that Armenian children will have a
greater striving for reaching their goals after reading this tale," the
children's writer mentioned. The author expressed hope that Armenian
children will like the tale, and added that the second and third
parts of the tale "Brave Kajik" will be soon published in Armenian.

Keijin Lee established relations with Armenia in 1991 when he was
introducing Eastern kinds of sport to the Armenian freedom-fighters
struggling in Nagorno Karabakh. In 1991-1992 he worked in the
radio-physical institute of Ashtarak. Currently, Keijin Lee is the
head of the department of physics of Seoul University and often
invites Armenian students and scientists to work in Korea. K. Lee
envisages to implement charity programs in regional schools of Armenia.
