STATE PROGRAM OF PROVIDING WITH FLATS TO BE IMPLEMENTED INYEREVAN, TOO, IN 2008

YEREVAN, JUNE 20, NOYAN TAPAN. 4500 apartments have been built
and given to refugees since 1994 to this day with the financing of
the Armenian Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and
the Norwegian Council for Refugees. Noyan Tapan correspondent was
informed about it by Ara Haroutiunian, the Head of the Department for
Refugees of the Migration Agency of the RA Ministry of Territorial
Administration. In his words, the apartment construction program
is also being implemented at present with the financing of these
organizations.
A. Haroutiunian said that the continuing problem of refugees will
also be solved with state assistance. By the program of Providing
with Flats of Persons Repressed from Azerbaijan implemented since
2005 it is planned to provide 3500 families living in small houses
and administrative buildings with apartments. The program, by which
apartment buying certificates are given to refugees, has been already
implemented in 9 regions. This year it is being implemented in the
Kotayk region and in 2008 will be implemented in Yerevan as well.
To recap, June 20 is the International Day of Refugees.
